Caramel-Drizzled Strawberry Jam-Stuffed Donuts

Ingredients
1/2 cup caster sugar + more for sprinkling
2 teaspoons dry yeast
1 cup (200ml) milk
2.5 cups (300g) plain flour
2 egg yolks
Vegetable oil for deep-frying
150g Yarra Valley Hilltop strawberry jam
*Makes around 20 small donuts!
Methods
- Add yeast to heated (warm) milk in a jug and leave for 10 minutes
- Add flour and sugar into a bowl
- Add the milk mixture and egg yolks to the bowl well, then knead for 3 minutes in an electric mixer or until smooth and sticky
- Cover and leave in a warm place for 2 hours or until doubled in size
- Once risen, flour your bench and shape the dough into a rectangle. Cut small circles using a small glass or a pastry cutter
- Cover and leave again for 30 minutes
- Fill a saucepan or deep-fryer halfway with oil and heat over medium heat until it reaches 160°C (or until a cube of bread turns golden in 20 seconds)
- Working in batches, Fry for approximately 4-5 minutes ensuring the donuts are golden and cooked through
- Remove and drain them on paper towel
- When slightly cooled, roll the donuts in some sugar
- Pipe your Yarra Valley Hilltop strawberry jam into the centre of each donut
- Enjoy!!
